Beliefs
We believe that God created a good universe, and that by the sin of Adam, all people fell into sin (Gen. 1-3; 1 Cor. 15:20-22)
We believe that this same God determined to reconcile sinful humanity to Himself through the blood of Jesus Christ, who is both fully God and fully man. (Gen. 22:18, 2 Cor. 5:19, Col. 1:15)
We believe that the Bible is a completely accurate revelation of God’s will and work in redemption, and is the ultimate trustworthy final authority for our understanding of God. (2 Tim. 3:16, 1 Pet. 1:20)
We believe that sinful humans need to be born again by the grace of God, so that we would be saved from sin, and freed and strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live lives reflecting God’s glory. (John 3:3, 1 Pet. 1:23, Rom. 8:13)
Vision
By the grace of God, we seek to live lives to the Glory of Jesus Christ, who we know personally through the work of the Holy Spirit, being brought into fellowship with God the Father through Christ’s death for our sakes on the cross.
We pray and work that this joy that we know would be known to people of every tribe and tongue and nation, through works of justice, healing and proclamation of the glorious Good News of Jesus Christ.
(see, among others, Ps. 43:4, Gal. 2:20, Phil 1:21, Eph 5:2, John 14:26, 2 Cor. 5:18, Rev. 7:9)
Mission
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18b-20, ESV)
As a result, we at Sangdang International Church: English Worship, in concert with our parent congregation, Sangdang Presbyterian Church, seek to live in the authority and presence of Jesus Christ, observing what He has commanded us, and living in His example. We desire to bring glory to the name of Jesus Christ by going into all the world, whether that be Cheongju, Korea, or to the ends of the earth, and leading people to put their faith in Him, and be baptized in His name.
To that end, we worship God on Sunday and seek to know him more closely through fellowship and scriptural study. We also preach and pray so that others might know the joy we find in our glorious God and Savior.
